Kamala Harris Hints At 2028 Presidential Run

Former Vice President Kamala Harris signaled Monday that another campaign for the White House remains possible, declining to rule out a future presidential bid during a podcast interview. Harris, 61, said last July that she would not pursue the California governorship, a decision that kept the door open for a possible 2028 run after her defeat to President Donald Trump in 2024.

Before making that choice, political observers believed Harris was considering three paths: running for governor in 2026, seeking the presidency again in 2028, or stepping away from elected politics altogether.

During the conversation, podcast host and author Sharon McMahon directly asked whether Harris planned to run again. Harris replied that she had not yet decided, later adding that she “might” pursue another campaign.

Polling averages from RealClearPolitics currently place Harris and California Governor Gavin Newsom at the top of a hypothetical Democratic primary field. Harris receives 28.3 percent support, while Newsom draws 20.7 percent.

McMahon suggested Harris’s memoir, “107 Days,” indicated she still wanted another chance at the presidency, though Harris rejected that interpretation. She said the book focused on documenting a unique period in her life and sharing lessons from the experience, particularly for younger readers and future leaders.

Meanwhile, Harris’s campaign-linked social media accounts have been revived through a new initiative aimed at younger voters ahead of the midterm elections. The former KamalaHQ accounts on X and TikTok have been rebranded as Headquarters, a youth-focused political media project created alongside the progressive nonprofit People For the American Way, where Harris will serve as chair emerita.

The organization describes itself as a next-generation campaigning effort designed to mobilize young people around democracy and civic engagement. Harris promoted the relaunch through a video message, expressing enthusiasm about connecting supporters with elected officials, activists, and community leaders online.
